En 2012, les architectes Nantais Barreau + Charbonnet participe à un concours pour la métropole de Rennes, son thème "Ca bouge dans le périurbain". Ils décident de présenter un projet en marge, un peu fou et poétique, "Le Métronome". L'idée serait pour eux de connecter d'une manière fantastique la banlieue au centre de la ville. Le Métronome est un grand balancier qui utilise un contre-poids géant pour fonctionner. À son bord, la vue est incroyable. C'est un moyen de transport hybride entre le manège et la passerelle volante. Une invention qui, bien qu'elle puisse poser de sérieuse contraintes d'ingénierie et de sécurité, réenchante la mobilité et créer un lien très fort entre les grands ensembles urbains de l'agglomération.

In 2012, the architects from Nantes, Barreau + Charbonnet, participated in a competition for the metropolis of Rennes, its theme "It moves in the peri-urban area". They decide to present a side project, a bit crazy and poetic, "The Metronome". The idea would be for them to connect in a fantastic way the suburbs to the center of the city. The Metronome is a large balance that uses a giant counterweight to work. On its edge, the view is amazing. It is a hybrid means of transport between the ride and the flying bridge. An invention that, although it may pose serious engineering and safety constraints, reenchants mobility and creates a very strong link between the major urban complexes of the agglomeration.
