Erwin Wurm

Dans cette sélection de trois œuvres, l'artiste autrichien Erwin Wurm explore et remet en question les formes de la maison. La mise en scène de Fat House en 2003 questionne les excès de la société consumériste. L'œuvre Narrow House créée en 2010 découle initialement d'une restriction d'espace imposée par le musée chinois qui accueillait l'installation. L'artiste précise aussi qu'il a puisé son inspiration de la maison de ses parents, une architecture pavillonnaire des années 60. Une fois de plus, le symbole de la maison est malmenée. Lors d'une rétrospective de son œuvre en 2006, il l'emploiera même comme projectile, propulsant la maison individuelle de House Attack contre la façade d'un musée.

In this selection of three works, the Austrian artist Erwin Wurm explores and questions the forms of the house. The staging of Fat House in 2003 questions the excesses of the consumerist society. The Narrow House work created in 2010 was originally the result of a space restriction imposed by the Chinese museum that hosted the installation. The artist also says that he drew his inspiration from his parents' house, a 1960s architecture. Once again, the symbol of the house is abused. In a retrospective of his work in 2006, he even used it as a projectile, propelling a House Attack detached house against the facade of a museum.
